This course is open for students of the Bachelor’s degree IT Security / Information Engineering and Master’s degree IT Security / Networks and Systems.

The main objective of the course is to provide a comprehensive overview of the security and privacy of blockchain technologies.

Background in system security, network security, cryptographic primitives (encryption methods, signatures, MACs, hash functions), principles of communication networks, is required.

Pre-requisites: Intro to Crypto 1 and 2 or System Security or Network Security 1. Students, who previously attended the courses „Introduction to Blockchain Security“ or „Blockchain Security and Privacy“, are not allowed to attend this lecture. 

Lab assignments
During the course, there will be numerous exercises/assignments. These are complementary to the lecture material and help in deepening the understanding of students in the topics covered in the lecture.

Unless specified otherwise, assignments and lab work is to be performed and submitted individually. In case of individual assignments, any form of unsolicited collaboration or plagiarism will not be tolerated and will result in the immediate disqualification of the involved students from that particular assignment.

Learning format
Lecture hall with media support, e-learning, exercises on the computer, additional self-study with additional materials and tasks provided. The entire course will be held in presence. 

Written Exam
At the end of the semester, we will organize a written exam. The exact location and date of the exam will be announced in due time. Physical presence is strictly required for the exam. The exam will cover both theoretical and practical aspects that were presented in the lecture/exercise session.
