Chair for
Security Engineering
The Chair of Security Engineering headed by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Tim Güneysu has been part of the Research Department for IT Security/HGI since 2017. On our homepage you will find current news about our courses, offered theses and our research.
The research focus of the chair is broad. A large part of our research is related to hardware security and protection against physical attackers. In particular, we focus on side-channel analysis and fault injection attacks on FPGAs and microcontrollers. Furthermore, at our chair, we deal with the security of processor architectures, especially investigating randomization in critical areas of the microarchitecture against time-based side-channel attacks. In addition to these topics, we also conduct research on efficient hardware and software implementations and applied cryptography. We have a particular focus on post-quantum cryptography and the challenges that arise there.
