International exchange programs

Not only data travels around the world, you can do it too! Computer science is international, it is researched, used and developed everywhere, its “official language” is English.

Studying abroad for one or two semesters therefore is extremely attractive, especially for IT students. Studying abroad broadens your horizons, allows you to take time out from everyday life, and also lets you shine professionally and personally by acquiring important soft skills for employers. Most importantly, you’ll have an unforgettable time that you’ll remember fondly.

Students at our faculty have a variety of opportunities to study abroad. Semesters abroad are not compulsory, but can be integrated very easily due to the structure of the respective curriculum.

Erasmus
Studying abroad with the Erasmus program is very popular among students. All 27 member states of the EU as well as the United Kingdom, Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein, Turkey, Serbia and Northern Macedonia participate. Students do not pay tuition at their host university and receive a financial allowance. The scholarship rate is determined annually and ranges – depending on the country of destination – between 330 and 450 euros per month (as of winter term 21/22).
Foreign European destinations
It is also possible to study abroad outside Europe. In addition to the faculty’s subject-specific collaborations, RUB maintains some university-wide and thus interdisciplinary university partnerships. These stays are often financed by scholarships. The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) offers an extensive scholarship database.

Bewerbung auf Austauschplätze über Erasmusabkommen der Fakultät für Informatik im Studienjahr 2024/25
  1. Informieren Dich über das Pdf “Auslandstudium 2024/2025” und die Präsentationsfolien sowie die Seiten der Partneruniversitäten über Deine Möglichkeiten. Bei Bedarf kannst Du auch einen Termin mit der Studienfachberatung vereinbaren.
  2. Schicken Deine Bewerbungsunterlagen bis zum 12.01.24 in einer PdF per Mail an studienberatung-ai+erasmus@rub.de
    • Bewerbungsunterlagen:
      1. Anschreiben, in dem Du Deine Motivation für das Auslandssemester an der konkreten Partneruni darlegst (inkl. kurzer Beschreibung der aktuellen Studiensituation und Studienplanung). Bitte unbedingt auch angeben, in welchem Semester Du ins Ausland möchtest!
