Application process

The application for the M.Sc. IT Security is carried out via the Online Application portal of the RUB. Only applications received within the deadline can be considered.

Once you have completed your online application, you will receive confirmation of receipt and the control sheet by e-mail.

On the control sheet you will find your application number and all information on the documents to be uploaded in the Admission Information Portal (next step).

To upload your application documents to the Admission Information Portal (Infoportal Zulassung), log in with your application number and date of birth.

All documents must be uploaded by the end of the application deadline.

Your application can only be processed further once you have completed all uploads or optional uploads have been waived. Your status in the Admission Information Portal will then be “Application being processed”.

Each upload can only be made once. You will no longer be able to view the uploaded document once it has been uploaded. It is therefore essential to ensure that the document is clearly readable and not upside down.

The upload must be in PDF format and must not exceed 5 MB in size.

The examination at the faculty can take some time. Please be patient and refrain from inquiring during this time. As soon as we have a result, you will be informed in the Admission Information Portal.

If you have received a letter of admission via the Admission Information Portal and would like to start or continue your studies at the Ruhr-Universität, you must accept the study place in the Admission Information Portal by the deadline. You will find the deadline for acceptance in the letter of admission.

If we are able to admit you to the degree programme, you must attend the mandatory counselling interview at the Student Advisory Service ITS before enroling. Here you will find out everything you need to know about the study programme and any unanswered questions will be clarified. The counselling session takes place in the form of an information event. We will inform you of the date by e-mail once your admission has been accepted.

Enrolment

Enrolment or re-enrolment is possible (after attending the counselling interview) within the deadline stated in your letter of admission. Once you have accepted your study place, you can start the online enrolment process via the Admission Information Portal (link top right “To enrolment/re-enrolment”). After online enrolment, you must upload the required documents to the Information Portal Enrolment.

Enroled? A warm welcome to you!

We look forward to having you in our faculty.
