Since 2019, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Christof Paar is director at the Max Planck Institute for Security and Privacy (MPI-SP).
The Embedded Security Group (EMSEC) was one of the core chairs of the Horst Görtz Institute at Ruhr University Bochum from 2001 to 2019. The work of the EMSEC group deals with all aspects of embedded security. This includes, in particular, protection against hardware Trojans or physical attacks (for example, side-channel attacks), security analysis of “real-world” systems, physical-layer security, and human aspects of reverse engineering.
