Chair for Security and Privacy of Ubiquitous Systems (UbiSys)

The Chair for Security and Privacy of Ubiquitous Systems, established since February 2024, is led by Prof. Veelasha Moonsamy. We are part of the Faculty of Computer Science, Horst Görtz Institute for IT Security, Cluster of Excellence CASA and the International Max Planck Research School (IMPRS).

The Chair’s research centers on analyzing, securing, and improving the resilience of the software and hardware underpinning interconnected digital systems—including mobile devices, wireless technologies, and IoT ecosystems. By systematically uncovering real-world vulnerabilities and examining attacker capabilities and behaviors, our work enables the development of robust, practical defenses. At the same time, our research also emphasizes the protection and responsible governance of user data, developing technical mechanisms that embed privacy into system design and ensure compliance with evolving data protection requirements.
