CHAIR FOR INFORMATION SECURITY

The Chair for Information Security, led by Prof. Dr. Ghassan Karame, has been established in the Faculty of Computer Science since 2021. Our international and multicultural research team focuses on various topics in the field of information security. Information on our research can be found hereOur latest publications also provide a good overview of our current research projects. We collaborate with various partners from the Cluster of Excellence CASA (Cyber Security in the Age of Large-Scale Adversaries), the Horst Goertz Institute for IT Security (HGI). We also closely collaborate with a number of partners from industrial research labs. Also, we are always looking for talented and bright students/postdocs to join our team. You can find our available positions here

Research priorities of the Chair include, but are not limited to, research in the areas of decentralized security and privacy, platform and storage security, and machine learning security, namely:

  • Decentralized security and privacy: we explore how to improve the security and privacy of cryptocurrencies and modern blockchain platforms while enhancing their performance and scalability.
  • Platform security: we explore how to make use of hardware support to improve the security and privacy of platforms.
  • ML security and privacy: we investigate how we can improve the security of machine learning algorithms and how to securely use machine learning to secure existing platforms.
