Change of examination regulations

For the winter semester 2020/21, new examination regulations have come into force for the study programs ITS . In almost all cases, it makes sense to change from the PO 2013 to the new PO 2020.

When changing the examination regulations, the recognition of examination achievements is based on the recognition tables and the resolution 89-5 of the examination board dated 23.09.2020.

Resolution 89-5 dated 23.09. 2020 – Change to the examination regulations 2020

.

When changing to the examination regulations 2020, examinations already taken are recognized as follows in the case of automatic recognition:

  1. All examination attempts (regardless of the respective examination result) will be recognized.
  2. All cancellations, sickness notifications, withdrawals and cancellations of examination attempts will be transferred.

Instructions for submitting applications ( note deadlines)

1. Read the rules of recognition (B.Sc. | M.Sc. ITS-I | M.Sc ITS-N) and contact the student advisory service in case of any questions. 2. Fill out appendix 2 of the application (see below) and send the signed form as a PDF via your RUB mail account to studienberatung-its@rub.de. Please state your degree program, your name and your matriculation number in the e-mail. 3. The faculty checks appendix 2 and the present examination results and then sends appendix 1 together with the application form for PO change back to you by e-mail with reservations (this process takes some time!). 4. Take note of the results of attachment 1. If the PO change is finally to be carried out, send the application form as a scanned, signed attachment in PDF format via your own RUB mail account, stating the degree program, name and matriculation number, to studienberatung-its@rub.de by the deadline. Upon receipt of the e-mail, the application for a change of PO is submitted and cannot be reversed. 5. The Examination Office sends a confirmation of theapproved application by e-mail to the RUB-mail address of the applicant.

Deadlines

Note: Please do not send us the completed appendix 2 until all examination results have been entered (exceptions are theses and industrial internships).

Summer semester 2022: 01.04. – 13.05.2022

From winter semester 2022/23: Dates will be announced at a later date.

General information

In the winter semester 2022/23, new examination regulations will come into force for the study programs Computer Science, Applied Computer Science and IT Security. All students who began their studies before the winter semester 2022/23 and who are studying according to PO 2013 or PO 2020 may continue to study in their own examination regulations and do not have to change. Thereby the discontinuation rules must be followed. However, it is also possible to switch to the new 2022 examination regulations for the respective degree program if these appear more attractive.

The change is made only upon request and within specified deadlines.

Important: In the winter semester 2022/23, it was possible for the last time to change to the PO 2020 as an alternative to the new examination regulations in the Applied Computer Science and IT Security degree programs. From the summer semester 2023 onwards, it will only be possible to apply for a change to the latest examination regulations. The Student Advisory Service will be happy to assist with questions regarding the change.

Deadlines

The application for change of examination regulations for all study programs of the faculty in the summer semester 2024 was possible until 03.05.2024. In the next winter semester 2024/25, the deadline for applications will last from 07.10. – 03.11.2024.

If you have any questions regarding your application for the change of examination regulations, please contact our Student Advisory Service.

Procedure

1. Read the recognition rules of your study program. The tables provide information on whether an examination achievement is automatically recognized or whether recognition is granted on independent application (see below). If you have questions, contact the respective Student Advisory Service

1.1. Automatic recognition: In this case, you do not need to complete any further steps. The transfer of the examination achievements takes place without restriction and automatically when the application is processed. Subjects with automatic recognition must be transferred. There is no attachment to be filled out.

1.2. Recognition on application: If you would like to have further examination achievements recognized when changing the examination regulations, please enter the corresponding examinations in the attachment to the application. The options for how an examination can be recognized can be found in the recognition rules. If you have any questions, please contact the responsible Student Advisor.

2. Fill out the application and the corresponding documents (see below) and send the documents within the deadline as a signed and scanned PDF via your own RUB mail account stating your study program, your name and matriculation number to informatik-pruefungsamt@rub.de.

3. The Examination Office sends you a confirmation of the approved application by e-mail to your RUB e-mail address in a timely manner.

4. Processing of the application, or the implementation of the PO change can take some time. Therefore, please wait a few weeks until your status in FlexNow has changed.
