Exam registration for external students

Students of RUB’s Faculty of Mathematics use FlexNow for registration and deregistration of exams from the Faculty of Computer Science. A selection of exams that has been coordinated with the Mathematics exams office is available, you will find a list of these exams here. All information on the use of FlexNow can be found on their website.

In rare cases, an exam may not be listed in FlexNow. If this exam attendance is already coordinated with your own exams office (e.g., as an individual case or as an “Auflage”), we kindly ask you to forward us this communication along with your inquiry.

Registration via the exams office is only possible if you can prove technical difficulties that made a registration on your own impossible. In this case, send an e-mail to informatik-pruefungsamt@rub.de from your own RUB mail account within the respective deadline, stating your name, student ID and the desired exam and include a screenshot of the error message, proving the technical difficulties.

Deadlines for registration and deregistration of the Faculty of Computer Science apply. They can be found here (Prüfungstermine) in the current exam schedule.

The University Alliance Ruhr consisting of RUB, TU Dortmund and Uni Duisburg-Essen enables students to expand the curricula of their home university by attending courses at the other universities (under certain conditions). For more information, see here.

If you’re enrolled at TU Dortmund / Uni Duisburg-Essen, you are eligible to attend certain lectures and exams of our faculty without the need for additional enrollment at RUB.

Attending the exams of compulsory modules is excluded.

Process:

  1. Please contact the chair/group well in advance and send them the UA Ruhr form and a valid certificate of enrollment.
  2. It is under the purview of the chair/group to admit you to the course and the exam. This info will be noted on the form.
  3. The form must be signed by all involved parties and remains with the chair/group.
  4. The examiner will record the grade on the form and forwards the form to the exams office of the home university.
  5. Failed exams will be recorded and forwarded in the same way as passed exams.

If you would like to register an exam, contact the research group/examiner and/or the team assistant as early as possible in the semester. The exam registration procedure and issuing of certificates for passed exams falls under the purview of the respective research group/examiner. Please have a valid proof of your student status ready.

Students of other universities (not from the UA Ruhr Alliance) will need to be enrolled at RUB to be admitted to exams.

Once you are admitted to exams at our faculty, these exams will not be automatically accredited in your study programme/at your university. Accreditation of the respective exams falls under the purview of your own exams office and in accordance with your individual exam regulations. It is recommended to consult with your own exams office prior to registering for an exam.
