Nils Jansen appointed ELLIS Fellow

With the prestigious appointment as Fellow, the ELLIS Society, short for European Laboratory for Learning and Intelligent Systems, recognizes Jansen’s outstanding research that strengthens trust in artificial intelligence.

Fellows are selected by the Society in a multi-stage process and must not only demonstrate exceptional research achievements over an extensive number of years, but also build a community that actively drives the future of machine learning.

About Nils Jansens research

Prof. Jansen’s research strives to render machine learning and artificial intelligence systems more reliable, trustworthy, and safe. He leads the chair of Artificial Intelligence and Formal Methods at RUB, and combines the rigorous analysis approaches from formal methods with the ever-increasing power of machine learning in novel neurosymblic AI approaches. Within his ERC starting grant, he investigates specific ways to advance the state-of-the-art in reinforcement learning towards real-world applicability.
