Ruhr University Bochum (RUB) is one of Germany’s leading research universities, encompassing the whole range of academic disciplines. The newly established Faculty of Computer Science at Ruhr-University in Bochum, Germany has several tenure-track or tenured openings. The positions are part of a concerted effort to strengthen the existing faculty and to foster collaborations with the recently established Max Planck Institute for Security and Privacy (MPI-SP). We welcome outstanding applicants from all areas of computer science, including, but not limited to:

Appointments will be made for full professorship, or as assistant/associate professorship with tenure track to full professorship. Salaries and working conditions are internationally very competitive and come with civil-servant status. The positions come with a startup package, typically including phd/postdoc positions, subject to negotiation. Full professorships are chair positions with administrative staff. RUB offers generous dual-career and relocation support.

RUB offers a vibrant environment for computer science research. The Faculty of Computer Science is currently in its ramp up phase and provides many possibilities for participation and engagement. RUB also offers opportunities for collaboration with the MPI-SP, the Cluster of Excellence “Cyber Security in the Age of Large-Scale Adversaries (CASA),”, and Bochum’s well-developed start-up community, supported by an incubator (Cube 5) and a start-up center (WORLDFACTORY).
