Application process for prospective master students with an international bachelor's degree

3 steps to your university place in Applied Computer Science, Computer Science (starts in the winter semester 23) and IT Security

1. Requirements

(a) Computer Science

Bachelor’s degree:

at least 6 semesters and 180 ECTS, thereof 50 ECTS in the basics of computer science.

For English: IELTS academic with a score of 7.0 or above, TOEFL IBT with a score of 100 or above, CAE C1 Advanced B (193 points or above), CAE C2 Proficiency C (200 points or above), others if applicable. Presentation of a certificate may be unnecessary if appropriate proof is provided

  • for applicants who have completed at least three years of undergraduate studies taught entirely in English and have been “in-residence” in Australia, Ireland, Canada (English-speaking regions), New Zealand, the United Kingdom or the United States of America. That is, the entire duration of the degree must have been spent in these countries. This does not apply to degrees earned at universities in these countries but at locations outside these countries, to distance learning programs, or to joint dual degrees with universities in other countries, or if the majority of the time was not spent in the former countries.
  • For applicants whose native language is English. This means that the language has been acquired and learned since early childhood without formal instruction or teaching, and that the areas of speaking, writing, reading, and listening are used at the highest level and with the highest level of proficiency.
  • for applicants with a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field from universities separately determined by the Board of Examiners, if the language of instruction was English or your studies were bilingual and one of the languages of instruction was English.

 

For GermanTestDaF with at least 16 points within one exam, DSH (level 2 or 3), Deutesches Sprachdiplom – DSD – II, ZOP resp. Goethe certificate C2 of the Goethe insitute, KDS or GDS of the Goethe institute, ÖSD-Sprachdiplom C1, telc Deutsch C1 Hochschule, Feststellungsprüfung (examination part German)

(b) Applied Computer Science

Bachelor’s degree:

at least 6 semesters and 180 ECTS, thereof 18 ECTS in mathematics and 60 ECTS in computer science

For English:UNIcert II, IELTS academic with grade 6,0 or more, TOEFL IBT with 85 points or more, PTE academic with 55 points or more, FCE (First Certificate in English), CAE (Certificate in Advanced English), more, if applicable

For GermanTestDaF with at least 16 points within one exam, DSH (level 2 or 3), Deutesches Sprachdiplom – DSD – II, ZOP resp. Goethe certificate C2 of the Goethe insitute, KDS or GDS of the Goethe institute, ÖSD-Sprachdiplom C1, telc Deutsch C1 Hochschule, Feststellungsprüfung (examination part German)

 

(c) IT Security / Information Technology

Bachelor’s degree:

at least 6 semesters and 180 ECTS, thereof 18 ECTS in mathematics, 50 ECTS in IT security, 30 ECTS in computer science and 15 ECTS in electrical engineering

For English:UNIcert II, IELTS academic with grade 6,0 or more, TOEFL IBT with 85 points or more, PTE academic with 55 points or more, FCE (First Certificate in English), CAE (Certificate in Advanced English), more, if applicable

For GermanTestDaF with at least 16 points within one exam, DSH (level 2 or 3), Deutesches Sprachdiplom – DSD – II, ZOP resp. Goethe certificate C2 of the Goethe insitute, KDS or GDS of the Goethe institute, ÖSD-Sprachdiplom C1, telc Deutsch C1 Hochschule, Feststellungsprüfung (examination part German)

(d) IT Security / Networks and Systems

Bachelor’s degree:

at least 6 semesters and 180 ECTS, thereof 18 ECTS in mathematics, 15 ECTS in computer science, 15 ECTS in electrical engineering/technical computer science and at least 90 LP from all three areas together.

For English: UNIcert II, IELTS academic with grade 6,0 or more, TOEFL IBT with 85 points or more, PTE academic with 55 points or more, FCE (First Certificate in English), CAE (Certificate in Advanced English), more, if applicable

For GermanTestDaF with at least 16 points within one exam, DSH (level 2 or 3), Deutesches Sprachdiplom – DSD – II, ZOP resp. Goethe certificate C2 of the Goethe insitute, KDS or GDS of the Goethe institute, ÖSD-Sprachdiplom C1, telc Deutsch C1 Hochschule, Feststellungsprüfung (examination part German)

2. Application

The application period and process are the same for all four degree programs.

For the winter term: Regularly from the beginning of June until the 15th of July
For the summer term: Regularly from the beginning of December until the 15th of January

3. Enrollment

After you have been admitted, you must have a mandatory counseling interview with the student advisor; you will need proof for attending the counseling for your enrollment.

Enrollment or reregistration is possible within the deadline stated in your admission letter. You start the online enrollment after your acceptance of your study place via the Infoportal Zulassung (link in the upper right corner “To enrollment/reregistration”). After the online enrollment you have to upload the required documents in the Infoportal Immatrikulation.
