Co-optation of Prof. Dr. Markus Stricker

We welcome the in January 2025 newly co-opted Prof. Dr. Markus Stricker to our faculty. Stricker is Professor of Materials Informatics and Data Science at the Interdisciplinary Centre for Advanced Materials Simulation (ICAMS) at RUB. With his group, he develops and applies data-driven tools for the efficient navigation and exploration of materials space. “With these tools, we contribute to a better – which often means faster – understanding, usage, selection, development, and discovery of materials. Our applications span from basic research in the field of metal plasticity, managing and making use of heterogeneous multimodal materials datasets, digitalization of materials science data to the prediction of synthesis routes in chemical reactions”, explains Markus Stricker.

He has been a professor at ICAMS since 2020 and was previously a post-doctoral researcher at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne and the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. ICAMS was founded in 2008 as an interdisciplinary research institute with the aim of scientifically developing and applying multiscale simulation tools for advanced materials.
