Summer School Attendance at ESSAI 2025
Our PhD students Eline, Miriam, and Jule had the opportunity to attend the 3rd European Summer School on Artificial Intelligence (ESSAI) in Bratislava, Slovakia. The program brought together researchers and (doctoral) students from across Europe to explore new fields and deepen their knowledge in various fields and cutting-edge research in AI, and exchange ideas in a collaborative international environment. With highly knowledgeable and enthusiastic lecturers and motivated students, this was an amazing learning opportunity!
Amongst many others, the most interesting courses included:
- AI for Autonomous Robots: Bridging Theory and Practice (by Timothy Wiley, The Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology)
- Formal Verification of Symbolic and Connectionist AI: A Way Toward Higher Quality Software (by Julien Girard-Satabin, Dorin Doncenco, and Zakaria Chihani, Paris-Saclay University)
- Back To The Future Of Cognition And Control In Robotics: Robustness, Rationality, And Explainable Agency (by Mohan Sridharan, The University of Edinburgh)
- Machine Unlearning: Theory, Methods, and Evaluations With Hands-On Insights (by Flavio Giobergia, Politecnico di Torino, and Giovalli Stilo, University of L’Aquila)
- Uncertainty in Machine Learning – Towards Trustworthy AI Models (by Matias A. Valdenegro Toro and Marco Zullich, University of Groningen)
