We would like to draw your attention to an event organised by the University Alliance Ruhr, which takes place this week at RUB:

Shared Voices, Shared Strength: Feminist Safer Space for Iranian University Members

Join our Safer Space, a supportive environment for Iranian diaspora members of University Alliance Ruhr (Ruhr-University Bochum, TU Dortmund, University Duisburg Essen). This is a place to share personal feelings, experiences, and emotions, focusing on mutual support during difficult times. We know the arguments. We are here to support each other in really hard times. We condemn violence from any source and aim to provide a Safer Space for agency and mutual support.

Key Topics:

  • Sharing of personal stories and emotions
  • Lack of contact with family and friends in Iran
  • Addressing feelings of loneliness and isolation due to conflicts within the diaspora, community, or family
  • Talking about the emotional challenges posed by violence and war
  • Navigating life in Germany amid embargoes and inflation

The Safer Space will be moderated by Mahtab Dadarsefatmahboob, a researcher and feminist activist. Her research focuses on the intersection of gender and migration within the Iranian diaspora. She also writes on social movements and political developments in Iran.
