If you want to apply for a thesis at our chair, you can contact any of the supervisors, even if they currently do not offer topics. To write a thesis at our chair, we recommend participating in our seminar and our lecture. The best way for you to find a topic is to participate in our lab course, where you can develop and design your own research idea for your thesis.
To apply for a topic you need to:
- write a short exposé (max. two pages)
- provide your grade sheets
Make sure to send these documents to the supervisor offering the topic. In case you have your own idea, feel free to get in touch with any supervisor with a research field close to your domain.

Stefan Horstmann (he/him)
Stefan supervises theses on the topic of Developer Centered Security with a focus on Privacy and Privacy by Design.
Houda Naji (she/her)
Houda supervises theses on the topic of Developer Centered Security with a focus on software developers and security. She investigates how software developers deal with security topics within an organization.
Raphael Serafini (he/him)
Raphael supervises theses with a focus on the influence of study factors on the willingness of software developers to participate in developer studies. In addition, he is investigating the differences between professional and non-professional software developers in terms of security awareness and skill and other factors.
Asli Yardim (she/they)
Asli supervises theses on the topic of Developer Centered Security with a focus on security and Security by Design.
